How to Awaken & Ignite Your Relationship

In a fast paced, high-stress, technology driven world, often the tools that are supposed to make communication easier drive us apart. As people lose touch with themselves and their partners, marriages and relationships are crumbling. Modern distractions, a lack of connection, and a lack of intimacy seem to cloud the good intentions with which most relationships begin.

Intimacy is not only about sex. It’s about connection. Intimacy can be created via sexual intimacy, emotional intimacy, intellectual intimacy, physical intimacy, and spiritual intimacy. First and foremost, we need to foster a connection with the SELF. When a deep sense of connection exists within us, and in our relationships, we tend to feel more supported and better able to manage the demands and stresses of our environment.

Sexual interaction is the foundation on which most relationships are built and yet it is the very thing that tends to get lost as the couple move further into a phase of commitment. From aliveness and joy and connection on so many levels of intimacy, the couple realize that they have become completely disconnected. Sexual intimacy becomes a chore, and the couple gets into a rut. Addressing the problem becomes more work than simply living in the rut.

So how can we “awaken the dead” and ignite desire?

  • Through a process of consciousness, begin to awaken sensuality within. Discover what is holding you back from living in your sexuality.

  • What is holding you back from reaching out and giving/receiving touch, comfort, nurturance, and love, to/from your partner?

  • Discover your fears around sexual and emotional intimacy with a therapist.

  • Update your information about sex and religious, cultural, and traditional values and have the courage to challenge systemic beliefs.

  • Get in touch with fantasies and talk about them with your partner.

  • MAKE SEX FUN. Don’t take it so seriously.

  • Work through past issues and get over them so that you can enjoy your lives together as grandparents.

The more you do it, the more you want it!
